Aesthetics of The Great Gatsby

When people think of the Great Gatsby, most people think of the aesthetics such as the fashion, music and art styles related to it. It is an aesthetic that still lingers within the conscious of the US and has evolved with the times, in different ways:

·       Electro Swing: music genre fusion of jazz and swing with EDM, house and hip-hop; notable artists include Palov Stevlar, Caravan Palace and FAKE TYPE

·       Dieselpunk: counterpart to steampunk with fuses the art deco style with the diesel technology of the time; driving force for the setting and design of Bioshock 1 and 2

·       Decopunk: counterpart of dieselpunk, with a focus on the more expensive and lavish side of the art style; influence behind the art style of Batman: The Animated Series

·       Dark Gatsby: aesthetic which centers non-white and LGBTQ+ culture within the Roaring 20s and focuses more of the darker yet rebellious elements of the era
